Sauk Centre High School is first to earn incentive
Sauk Centre
High School became the first customer of an MRES member to apply for
and receive an incentive under the Bright Energy Solutions®
program. The Minnesota school now has brighter but more efficient
lighting in its building. It replaced 400-watt metal halide lamps
with new 6-lamp, T-8 High-Bay fixtures that will use less than
one-half of the demand and energy of the old lamps. This retrofit
lighting project will save the high school and Sauk Centre Municipal
Utilities 4.64 kW of demand per month and 19,220kW of energy per
year for the life of the new fixtures. The Sauk Centre High School
project received a cash incentive of $4,700 from the Bright Energy
Solutions® program.

Members joining demand-side management program
Missouri River Energy Services' demand-side management plan to save
85 megawatts from 2008 to 2010 is off to a good start. Five months
into the DSM program initiated by MRES and a member task force, 33
members across all four states served by MRES now have joined the
new program marketed as Bright Energy Solutions®.
The program offers qualified commercial and industrial customers
cash incentives for a variety of programs, including lighting,
motors, cooling, and other equipment. The programs can help those
customers reduce their electric demand and energy usage, and operate
more efficiently. Programs geared toward members' residential
customers are slated to begin in 2009.
